Hiring: Business Manager
The Business Manager is responsible for the financial management and operational oversight of Walnut Media and its divisions, including five radio stations, Performance Digital, Performance Podcasts, and Boombox Entertainment. This role focuses on ensuring sound financial practices, accurate reporting, and effective collaboration with department leaders to support informed business decisions.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage all aspects of accounts receivable and accounts payable, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with internal controls.
- Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements for accuracy and clarity, providing insights and variance explanations to management.
- Partner with non-financial managers across divisions to help them interpret financial reports, manage budgets, and understand key performance indicators.
- Lead the monthly financial close process, ensuring all journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals are completed accurately.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting, working closely with the CEO and department heads to align financial plans with operational goals.
- Monitor cash flow, expenses, and revenue trends, identifying opportunities for operational efficiency and improved profitability.
- Oversee payroll processing, including commissions and related reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Maintain and update accounting policies and procedures to ensure proper internal controls and best practices.
- Serve as the primary liaison with external accountants, auditors, and tax advisors as
- Support leadership by preparing financial summaries, dashboards, and management reports to inform strategic decision-making.
- Foster collaboration and communication between finance and other departments to strengthen accountability and transparency.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred but not required
- Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in accounting or financial management; experience in media, broadcasting, or multi-entity environments preferred.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, budgeting, and financial
- Proficient in QuickBooks Online, Microsoft Excel, and general financial reporting
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and
- Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-financial
- Proven track record of improving processes and implementing financial
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple
